I was visting a park in Brownville and I asked my friend how do you know whats forsale or rent here. She told me "do you see the RED reflector and the BLUE reflector?" RED is forsale and BLUE is for rent. WOW I thought what a great idea and maybe it might work here. As we drive or stroll around the park the reflectors would give much needed info to someone interested. And they are not an eye sore.

What's up with the pools? The outdoor pool is closed and the indoor pool continues to be greenish. YUK!

In my opinion the rental office needs to change. I personally would not leave my property with the office. And you can poke fun all you want but you all know what a black list is. And if your on it "YOU GET NOTHING."

For walk- ins maybe you should be able to see a map of the places for rent so they can choose for themselves. People that call in ....well , that's where an owner is screwed. Especially now, with all that is going on with the man ..anger. OH!! Yeah your screwed if you had an opinion. There's friends who have friends who have friends.
You know I really didn't think like that before till I lived in LIV. I have learned a lot!

I've seen it in the park "FAVORTISIM." When it comes to some builders for sure. People in charge close one eye and turn and walk away. No no NO rental office me!.

We probably should do away with it anyway. There is a place in Port Isabel called the GOLDEN MAID
(956) 761-7504 . Why not give those people the job of cleaning your property in LIV . Let the Real Estate people in the park take on the irresponsibility of renting your property , they do now! You can weigh the cost of what our office charges to what a independent maid service would charge. I'm sure that service would be insured.
You can get rid of the full time cleaning people in LIV that do that job. etc etc etc. And I really do think you should take in consideration about those red and blue markers on your property that indicate for sale or rent. It would make life a little easier.

Do we have to ask the boards permission?

Last year was our first year in LIV.

Right off the top, I will say we are renters.

Rentals
We checked out real estate agents, rental websites and the LIV rental office before making a decision on a unit.

The LIV rental office was more expensive than the other two options. When we called, the office had limited details available on the places for rent, dates could not be confirmed, and a few places were even described by the office as dated (still with the high rental rate)!

So why would we rent from the office?

Security
I am not sure what the rules are to get into the park, as a friend showed up unannounced on our doorstep. At the security hut, he just said he was coming to visit a friend and the gate was opened.

Hurricane preparation
I can only go by what I have read in this blog and the other SPI forums. But I must say, it scares the poop out of me to think that the park itself might not have any formal pre and post disater plans.

Overall

We loved the park and the people. We saw a little bit of the politics in action, but that can be expected in any park this size. Overall the people we met loved living there and they are the reason we are coming for 3 months this year.

Cheers.

"irresponsibility" Did I write that! I am so sorry I would never accuse our real estate people of being that.. I think you call that a FLOYDIAN SLIP!
OPPS!

My comment is: why don't you clean up this blog or drop it all together. It is negative, censored, and designed to promote single minded personal vindettas. If the Village is so bad why don't you move out? This divisive tirade it tiresome to all.

Anonymous said...

This 'divisive tirade' was started by the persons who sent out the ballot for recall, not this blog! The blog is a great way to provide communication to any one interested. If the previous commentor thinks it's 'negative, censored, and designed to promote single minded person vindettas' maybe that person needs to just not visit the site.

Single minded personal vEndettas??
That's a hoot. Im sure the little ole white haired lady that distributed the packets on Jim and orchestrated the recall petition knows all about tirades and I'm sure your both on the same side of the fence. Please don't throw stones if you live in a glass home.

Anonymous said...

MOVE OUT?? you are on to something there!!! the last miss negative ended up doing that, she was connected to mr negative somehow wasn't she? GOOD IDEA

Anonymous said...

Maybe, with a little luck the current BIG NEGATIVES will leave...the GM and his merry band of Sour Grapes....

Anonymous said...

Thank you Dick Stabler for speaking up at the Coffee today about the childishness of the people who sent out ballots for a recall. These individuals need to get over losing the election and let the board members who were elected by the majority of the owners do what needs to be done to improve LIV.

Anonymous said...

My suggestion is to Dennis Sullivan. Take charge, do your job as President of the Board. Patricia Burke is not the president and she should not continue to think she is. She is one of the devisive members of the BOD. She does not let members speak without interrupting. She thinks she needs to be on every committee. She needs to give it a rest and be a productive member of the Board not counterproductive.

Why is it that the pools are in
good (not excellent) condition on
the days of our Coffee W/Directors
and Board Meetings...if it is
possible on those days, why not the rest of the month?

Captain Midnight said...

How is there any validity to the recall? Who validated the signatures? What about all the coercion from the SGG to residents, i.e. calling to plead with people to change their vote, confronting the Valley people at the pool and throughout the about signing ballots, and telling people that they could fill out a ballot for them if they didn't want to mail one in.
Doesn't seem like any of that is valid.

Anonymous said...

Honestly, if you look at the petition's reasons for the recall, you'll have your answer on the validity. Also see in this blog archives The Petition (posted April 30th) explains a lot.

Anonymous said...

Honestly???
Please the allegations stated in the letter with the ballot are false.
And what's up with the 'petition'. Don't petitions have to have signatures? I look forward to seeing the signatures on the 'petition' from the winter Texans.

Anonymous said...

What petition??? I was never ask to sign a petition. All I ever received was a letter and a ballot.

Anonymous said...

Honesty...
Hmmm, what a concept. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all be honest. Unfortunately in the real world no one in 100% honest. The GM is a great example of this. He has a knack for "Not recalling" conversations and incidents. The residents who lost the BOD election concoct untrue allegations about the newly elected BOD members i.e., 'secret meetings' and 'hidden agendas'.
It is just sad that people stoop to this level. It's a real wake up call to the character of some of the residents of LIV. Wonder if this is how they acted during their careers?
Now it's easy to understand why Dick Stabler resigned. He didn't walk out on us, he just has higher standard of morals. When the GM will look you right in the face and lie to you. Who would want to work with someone like that?

I LOVE THIS BLOG!!!
IT'S NOT ONLY INFORMATIONAL, JOE DOES A GREAT JOB OF DOCUMENTING THE COFFEES AND MEETINGS. IT'S ENTERTAINING AS WELL.
ONE CAN ALMOST GUESS WHO THE WRITERS OF THE COMMENTS ARE.
IT'S A HOOT.

Hey, I know a father/son team with extensive experience in management and maintenance of very large waterfront communities in SPI, PI, Laguna Madre, and Port Aransas area. Including ARAMARK management experience. Would be willing to work for almost peanuts on a temporary contract basis; maybe 3 months or so.

Considerable savings compared to current combined costs of GM, Maintenance manager, and Hospitality manager. Would be a quick and easy alternatative for board until they decide on a more permanent course of action, with no long term commitment required, and seamless management integration due to both ARAMARK and self-management experience, also lots of Board level experience in property owners associations!

Could also act as consultant to or for ARAMARK, so no need to terminate or change contract until board is ready! For more info, reply here, or email website04@aol.com

I certainly hope that the BOD realizes that their job tomorrow is very important. They will be asked to vote on the removal of GM based on his performance as GM.

Since there has been no sign of a manager in him since his arrival, I would think that the vote should be very easy. Please get him out before he does any more damage.

He's been an embarassment and a joke since coming here from who knows where.

Every project that he has undertaken has been done poorly.
The Activity Center, the Security and Sewer Fiascos, the pool and poor general maintenace are just a few items in which he deserves an F. So he cannot possibly pass an evaluation.

The BOD needs to rid LIV of the Demalades and their small but Sour Grapes Group. Take Armando and Les too as they do absolutely nothing.

Anonymous said...

I would hope that getting rid of the GM was as easy and as clear cut as the above statement makes it....but it's not. Remember you have the merry band of SGGers that will scream and shout when the subject is brought up...not to mention Director Burke, who will rant, rave and have a general fit. By this time the BOD meeting will be out of control. The BOD President hasn't shown that he can control this type of behavior. In order to get a vote through, the majority of the BOD members MUST stick together.

Please BOD give the GM and Mrs. Larry their walking papers. Appoint a Sargent at Arms if you have to....JUST 'ER DONE!

Anonymous said...

So...any inklings about what's gonna transpire at the board meeting? Come on, I know some of you have inside knowledge, so spill it! What's gonna happen at the Board Meeting? Manager fired? ARAMARK fired? Security Company? Come on, let us know what to expect!

Anonymous said...

RE: Take Armando and Les too as they do absolutely nothing.

Hey, how long has Armando been here, anyway? Seems like forever, anyone know how long? And why does he seem to survive indefinitely, yet other managers come and go? And the biggest complaints seem to stem from his areas of responsibility - like grounds, pools, golf course, housekeeping, etc. What's up with that? Reverse discrimination perhaps? I don't get it...

Anonymous said...

If I was doing a poor job of managing and/or my management wasn't acceptable to my boss for whatever reason, I would find another job. I'd rather leave on my own accord and get on with my life. Wouldn't you? Not sure why the GM stays around with all the discontent, as there will likely not be a good reference for the next position.

Anonymous said...

I know whyhe stays, easy income, no work for a lot of pay!

Anonymous said...

I'd give him a good reference so someplace else would hire him. He'd be ACES!

Anonymous said...

My suggestion? Yes, my suggestion is to still call the LIV golf course, the JIM PAUL Golf Course!

Is that still the official name of the golf course? If not, why not, and who changed it?

Anonymous said...

What is the name of the golf course if not the JIM PAUL?????

Anonymous said...

All of you need to take a step back and check yourselves. You're acting like a group of high school girls.
Everyone will have different opinions, that's just the way life goes. Both sides of this "war" need to focus on the positive and what's best for LIV and stop WHINING. This includes personal attacks (that is just wrong) and not taking accountability for your own actions. Where are your morals?
From what has been said and done at meetings and on other occasions, I'm truly surprised that some of you can sleep at night.

Anonymous said...

We all need to take a big breath and relax. Life is too short to be so cruel to each other. Let's all think before we speak or act.
Take a moment to reflect on what is really important in life. Our board of directors need our support -- all of them.

Anonymous said...

I think GRADE SCHOOL girls would be more accurate. Question: Why is all this taking place while most of us aren't there? Why didn't this take place before the Winter Texans left last spring or after they've arrived this fall? These things should be addressed when the majority of us are actually THERE. We are just as important as the "year rounders". We pay just as much at LIV but we seem to be treated like second class citizens. Somehow I get the feeling some of you don't want our opinion. Suggestion: Give it a rest until January 1st when a lot of us are there. Then let it fall where it falls.

Anonymous said...

Re: Question: Why is all this taking place while most of us aren't there?

For the answer to that you would have to ask Director Burke and the SGG.

We "year arounders" think and know you are important and miss you when you aren't here. Would the SGG have done that recall letter if the Winter Texans were here? Somehow, I don't think so.

As far as "giving it a rest until Jan 1, 2009", that just can't be done. The problem/recall letter is like the 500 pound gorillia in the room, it is in our face now and must be dealt with.

The Winter Texans need to call, write or email the BOD letting them know what they want. Trust me, we have 5 sane and sensible BODs and they would love to hear from you.

Hurry back 'yall we miss you!!

Hi Joey,

Now, this is way off track for this blog, but I'd like to share an idea I've been working on.

Up here in the Dallas area we have Craigs list - a web page that is actually world wide, but you click on your city. On this site you can put and access free ads for just about anything! It's great.

Why don't you have an area on your blog where folks can put stuff for sale, from a toaster to a house or auto or services ofered. They would have to put in their phone numbers to be contacted. Buy and sell on Joey's Blog!

I think that a lot of people from LIV read and contribute to your blog and would appreciate a place to advertise their wares or services.

Now, there - something positive for LIV.

Go to www.craigslist.com to see.

OH MY SAKES,I heard PB is going to run for the board again. If there was ever a rumor I hope that's one!

Anonymous said...

Re: OH MY SAKES....

PB running for the board again sounds more like a nightmare. Could LIV survive another 3 years??
I don't think so.

Anonymous said...

Can we all not get along?

Anonymous said...

Re: Can we all not get along?

Getting along is one thing, having to hear PB rant & rave for another 3 years is another. While I will defend her right to have her say, I DON'T UNDERSTAND why she must go on and on and on! On the whole those remarks are negative and are NOT for the improvement of LIV. She had her time as President and it is time to let go!

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately PB doesn't know how to let others have any say. She wants to be the voice of the Village, she thinks only her opinion is rights, and everyone should listen and believe everything she says.
Amen that it's time for her to go.
Something to think about, how about recalling her?

Anonymous said...

I hate to admit that I even voted for PB in the first place. You bet I'd like to recall her...even with the few months left for her to "serve." She is NOT representing me!!!

Anonymous said...

We can only hope that March 09, when PB is on the ballot people will be smart enough to NOT vote for her.

Anonymous said...

I'd like to know why she has to argue any point brought to the BOD by another BOD member.

Anonymous said...

I have a suggestion, get rid of PB, LM, MS

Anonymous said...

Get rid of RP, too.
