Music on Channel 18
I recall that last spring when discussion took place about music on the info channel the people definitely did not want elevator music.
Put the variety of music back on channel 18!!!

Great picture Joey, do believe it is one of your best.
Thanks for all your hard work on the blog.

This blog, although started with good intentions by Joey, has gotten way out of control.

The kind of rudeness and defamation of character that goes on here is what continues to rip our village into shreds.

It is obvious that the youngsters posting here will not ever stop this, so removing the blog altogether should be considered. We can then go back to meeting with friends and neighbors to talk about people behind their backs.

We live in a community that states it's secured.
We a have a Security Shed where a guard is posted at the entrance, they check passes to make sure you live there and if your a guest at the park, the owner needs to post with the guard that your are arriving!
Now we as owners pay lots of money for this service. Owners say these people are GATEKEEPERS!
The owners want a SECURITY COMPANY to man the GATE! At an additional cost.
What is the difference between GATEKEEPERS , and a Security Guard.
They both drive around in a golf cart, they both man the gate, they both wear uniforms?
No one carries a weapon.
Please just put it in a nutshell for us!
People still have items stolen from their homes, people still dont obey pool rules pleople still enter the park without permission. ANNNNDD!

Anonymous said...

Some people...its about the money and some people its about the word.

" SECURITY "

Its a feel good word where we live that's all. We all would like Champaign on a beer budget.

Anonymous said...

hmm..training. typically, "security guards" are better trained, and more able to respond to danger. gatekeepers are pretty much good for...keeping the gate. beyond that, they really cant do much. however, short of being highly trained in hand-to-hand combat, a security guard with no weapon is about as effective as a gatekeeper. In your case, it seems that the only difference would be in the name your fellow owners feel better about "security" guards over "gatekeepers" simply because one sounds better. In all, its probably not worth it to switch if you have to pay more...unless they end up coming with weapons.

Anonymous said...

I feel most of you forget the liability it poses our comunity without having a licensed security. Most lawsuits that are won are from a property giving the appearance that people are protected by a continously updated trained security. We didn't have that with the gate keepers. Our park had elected to go backwards and save the money. All we had there was a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Anonymous said...

God forbid if someone gets hit with a cane or walker!
Besides didnt we have the same security people before?

Anonymous said...

I think you are also forgetting the fact that we were operating illegally. The Texas Dept. of Public Safety says it is illegal to patrol unless we have a licensed security team. PB & LD misled us when they said unlicensed security could patrol & do everything licensed security could do. Not True! The contract PB signed was for "outside gatekeepers only". All they can legally do is push that button & if they happen to see something wrong they can call the authorities. Personally, I think the $6 more a year I have to pay is worth getting someone trained who can patrol, write citations, and is not a liability to US. Besides that..... we are also paying Les & LD more if we have Aramark Security. They didn't tell you that....more responsibility = more $ for them.

Anonymous said...

re: "Besides that..... we are also paying Les & LD more if we have Aramark Security. They didn't tell you that....more responsibility = more $ for them."

And what exactly is wrong with that? You expect employees to take on more responsibility without getting compensated for it?

So now that the security is contracted to another company, then there should be absolutely NO complaints about security to the GM; because after all, he's no longer responsible for security and is not getting paid for it...

A security guard, (or security officer) is usually a privately and formally employed person who is paid to protect property, assets, or people.

Often, security officers are uniformed and act to protect property by maintaining a high visibility presence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions, observing (either directly, through patrols, or by watching alarm systems or video cameras) for signs of crime, fire or disorder; then taking action and reporting any incidents to their client and emergency services as appropriate

GATEKEEPER
One that is in charge of passage through a gate.
One who monitors or oversees the actions of others.
A primary-care provider, often in the setting of a managed-care organization, who coordinates patient care and provides information.

watchman
Noun
pl -men a man employed to guard buildings or property!

As I understand it, Joey followed exactly what was on the application & turned his in within the required time & to the place that was on the application. I also believe Sandra Etter & her committee have done everything they can to keep this election fair and legal. Please check your facts before starting even more rumors. We have had enough!

I believe it..but an explanation from Joe would be nice just to shut people up.. I'm tired of it also.

Whars the scoop on Larry being related to Les???

Anonymous said...

By now you have read the Candidates resumes'.RH is still on the garbage hauling issue.Page 3 of the Aramark contract lists services the CLIENT (LIV) is responsible for,not Aramark. Trash and garbage removal is specifically called out.
So there are 3 possible explanations for his position:
1.He has not read the contract
2.He has read the contract but not understood it.
3 He has read and understands the contract but chooses to still sling mud on a visible item.
It is time to elect Directors that have more interest in representing the Owners and less on discrediting others.

Anonymous said...

RE: end the rumor about the son-in-law...

The FACT is that Les is Larry's son-in-law

Now the question is...
How many other lies has LD spread that affects us???

Anonymous said...

Re: the Client (LIV) not Aramark is responsible for trash hauling. Nice try but there is nothing on page 3 about hauling trash. If you check the contract under III. FACILITY SERVICES (page 9-10) - the Facility Mgr. is responsible for all "Contractual Oversight" which means that any contract LIV enters into, including Trash & Time Warner, & Securitas will be implemented & overseen by the Facility Mgr. (Armondo) who shall be overseen by the GM. So now the GM is trying to get out of being responsible for not only TW & Securitas, and now the trash. What the heck does he do anyway? Maybe we should ask him to make a list so we don't expect too much!

RE: Les is Larry's son-in-law

Larry isn't the only one who has been going down the misinformation highway! Last spring I ask Les what his relation to Larry was. Les said there was no relation they were just friends. When I pointed out the fact they worked at the same place at times he said "it just worked out like that".

So who is an LIV resident to trust?

Anonymous said...

Joey, thanks for your concern and respect relating to Larry's dad.
It is an honorable thing to do.
The gm and wife will bring everything out into the light soon. Then we will all know the rediculas truth.

Why are the resumes not posted on LIV website so the people not there can read them?
Please post.

I copied and pasted that in its entirety so that you could read it again. I am sorry that some of you can't decipher a joking compliment, but the "youngsters" I was referring to are not exactly youngsters. They are ACTING like it, but there aren't too many youngsters in the village and I doubt if ANY youngsters are writing in this blog. One of them apparently did, and they are right in saying that they are the future of LIV. It's all of us who have too much time on our hands that can't seem to be nice on this blog.

Anonymous said...

Our GM, Larry "Ge Imaliar",is caught red handed. He is the one who brought Les to LIV and lied about his relationship. We now have proof that Les is Larry's son-in-law. Even Larry's wife finally admitted it. Nepotism is illegal. Larry and Les must go. Aramark fire them or you must go too.

The ridiculous truth is that for years now we have had a GM that has lied about having hired his son-in-law. You have to ask yourself: why was it necessary to lie about this? What policies might they be breaking for a man to hire his son-in-law?

Our GM has lied about many things. How can we trust him?

Anonymous said...

Les is Larry's son-in-law?...we've heard this repeated over and over, and still no proof. Now these blog comments are stating it as truth, and saying we now have proof...and they say the GM's wife admits...but they don't specify what the proof is???? Nor do I read anything here from the GM's wife stating what other are saying! What am I missing?

Anonymous said...

I trust the GM about as far as...
NO WHERE.
He lost any credibility he had, not that there was much anyway.

The COOL people are supporting candidates that support the GM read their applications carefully.

Anonymous said...

RE: Les is Larry's son-in-law?...we've heard this repeated over and over, and still no proof.

The proof that you are asking about are public state and county court records available to anyone with the skills to search them out. You might also want to do a "GOOGLE" search for LD's father's obituary listing his survivors. Easy stuff ! ! !

Anonymous said...

Re: Les is Larry's son-in-law?
For one go to the Fort Worth newspaper and read the obituary for O.W. Demalade. Tha should answer some of your questions.
Also see Les's marriage certificate. They are around.

Anonymous said...

I have a copy of the marriage certificate between Sandi Kay DeMalade and Leslie Lee Heier. The marriage took place in Fargo, North Dakota on May 31, 1991. And, by-the-way, Larry and Cathy signed the certificate as witnesses.

I also have a birth record from the Texas Dept. of Health Bureau of Vital Statistics which shows Sandi Kay DeMalade's birth on Aug 14, 1969, with Mother: Cathy Ann Elam, and Father: Larry Wood DeMalade. Sandi Kay is Larry and Cathy's daughter. She is married to Les. That makes Les Larry's son-in-law.

Maybe I'll get Joey to post it here so all can see.

Anonymous said...

And Larry convinced the Board to develop a new position and he knew just the person to fill it for a nice salary.

The things that Les is supposedly in charge of are a disaster - the rental office, the village grill, the security...

Most I've ever seen Les do is stand outside and smoke.

Anonymous said...

You know.... if you check out where pb is from ...aslo North Dakota

Anonymous said...

This information concerning our GM is coming at an opportune time. With the elections around the corner, perhaps the GM followers will decide to take another look at the man they where trying to protect. And look at what the new board had to deal with. Only those people had the insight of a closely knitted group , the rest of us where observers.

As far as LH position ...I don't think it needs to be replaced.. Saving money there.
When reviewing new contracts for general managers... salaries should be taken into consideration. See what managers are getting in the area. ITS HALF OF OUR gm pay!

Just maybe this will put a smoother edge on the elections also. I really think some apologies are in order also.

It would be nice if the lawsuit was dropped !

Anonymous said...

Just received my "COOL" letter - now I know WHO NOT TO VOTE FOR! Thanks for making it easy.

Anonymous said...

If this "Les is GM's son-in-law" is true, then...uh-oh! NOT COOL (get it?...cool...coalition of long island...).

It's one thing to hire and work with relatives...usually no problem ethically-wise as long as no favoritism is involved. But to hide or even deny a nepotistic (nepotic) relationship is NOT COOL!

Long Island is rapidly imploding by the minute!

Anonymous said...

Hey, would it be possible to get full disclosure on this blog about the total Aramark management fees, Aramark managers' salaries and benefits cost? Thanks

Anonymous said...

regarding: "And, by-the-way, Larry and Cathy signed the certificate as witnesses."

This is amazing. Didn't Larry already publicly deny that he and Les were related by blood or marriage? Why in the heck is something not being done about this if indeed the evidence exists? Where is Aramark in this? Where is the Board in this?

Or...is this is just another rumor on the blog?

Anonymous said...

IF this is true, congratulations. You finally have something on Larry. Too bad you've already made such fools of yourselves that people want Larry more than they want you.

We might have to get a new general manager (thanks to the anti-Larry group) but we will keep a management company and will NOT re-elect Hansen.

Oh yeah, and you're right, this IS an oppurtune time or this type of info to come out. In fact, it's kind of funny that Les has been here for a couple of years or more but just when the anti-Larry group feels that their parade is about over, this info comes out.

Wake up, people!

Remnants of Crisis
If your board has just experienced (or is in the midst of experiencing) a crisis, they have had to jump in with both feet to get the job done and make sure the organization survives. Perhaps the manager has just quit with no notice. In times of crisis, the board may have to act outside its role, as they may be the only ones left to do so. (That is one of the reasons we have boards - to provide the organization with continuity.)

Anonymous said...

Re: "Provervs 26:8"

As usual, someone read scripture as it applied to someone else rather than themselves.

Anonymous said...

Let's say all this stuff about Les being the son-in-law is true. WHO CARES? What difference does that make?

I see your point about the job being created for him, as well as the point about him not doing it so well, but STILL--who cares?

We ALSO created a job for JP. And that seems to be when all the trouble started!

Anonymous said...

Is anyone here smart enough to see that there might be a scenario where Larry could still be telling the truth when he says that they're not related?

Let's think this through....LD was here less then a month when he talks the BOD into creating a job for a guy (his son-in-law) that is "so much more" qualified then anyone else Aramark could provide even tho he has no restaurant experience, and is currently working as a janitor in a nursing home. Chances are we have lost loads of $$ from not having a "qualified" person running the grill & our dinner dances etc. This person is the 2ond highest paid person in the park & from all I see & hear he does very little to nothing. Who Cares? I Care! I care that we have been hoodwinked into thinking LD was doing something for us when in reality he was doing something for his son-in-law. When a decision needs to be made.....LIV or LES??? Who wins? Not LIV!

Anonymous said...

RE: Who Cares?
The difference is that LD has lied when asked point blank about Les being his son-in-law.
That is a breach of contract under the ethics code of ARAMARK.
LD continues to tell 'stories' to try to make himself look good in the eyes/ears of his suporters. Saying things like "the certified letter was sent 3 weeks ago" when in fact, the person to receive the certified letter received it 2 days after LD was questioned about it.
Unfortunately his supporters must be blind and deaf because they continue to defend his every action. That is the sad part.
Wake up peope.

RE: Is anyone here smart enough to see that there might be a scenario where Larry could still be telling the truth when he says that they're not related?

Oh you mean a "I do not recall", or an "the glove does not fit" or more in keeping with our good 'ol GM a "read my lips, I did not have sexual relations with that woman." I'm sure our talented "storyteller" has many scenarios ready to play out for each time he gets caught in another lie. This isn't a court of law we do not care about technicalities, whether it was a lie at the precise moment he told it or in the manner in which he stated it. THE COLD HARD FACTS ARE HE INTENTIONALLY MISLED US ALL FROM THE START.

Joey! Oh, Joey! What ever happened to the thoughts you had when you wrote these words: "This is a blog and not meant to be a chat room. It will not encourage invalid promotions or back and forth bickering. It will not be used on my part towards any personal political communiqué."

The obvious separation between those words and reality will not assist you in your credibility as a candidate.

Anonymous said...

Re: "This isn't a court of law we do not care about technicalities"

Oh, but you WILL care if it ever gets taken to a court of law, or if it ever comes up in a court of law!

Re: "HE INTENTIONALLY MISLED US ALL FROM THE START."

The misleading took place last February when RH, JP and EM were running for the board, saying, "People keep asking me what my agenda is; I don't have an agenda." Again, think back to the years before that when we struggled to obtain enough candidates to fill the position. But all of a sudden like, we had all these who seemed to be of like character running at the same time. Now that you have that remembrance, think about how the year has gone SINCE then.

Now consider the statement from another post above, repeated here for your convenience: "his supporters must be blind and deaf because they continue to defend his every action. That is the sad part.
Wake up peope."

If you've forgotten the events leading up to last March and you don't see the connection to how the last year has transpired, THEN you're blind and deaf and need to "wake up".

Don't be like cattle and let the recent "crap" that we've been reading here lead you around with a halter.

Anonymous said...

All of a sudden it's obvious the COOL fools don't want to see the truth in print...it hurst too much......

Anonymous said...

You can say whatever you want because it is a free country & open blog...but the truth remains...the GM has lied to us since the first month he started working here. He didn't notify the BOD that the oh so "qualified" person he was bringing in as our hospitality director was his son-in-law! I do not buy any of his or his wife's lame excuses. Nor should you. He has put himself, his son-in-law, and Aramark in a bad position. He and his wife have created a very hostile atmosphere here. You can try to blame it on the 3 guys but in reality...none of this would have happened if LD had been an honest person in the first place.

In lieu of the restaurant losing business, may we suggest closing the restaurant as we know it.

Some thought could be given as to a sandwich shop. A deli, JUST SOUP and a sandwich. Perhaps a breakfast menu of egg burritos donuts ,Danish Bagels.

Golfers can grab a sandwich to go ,chocolate chip cookies a brownie, beer ,soda.
The restaurant could stay open all year for the heavy traffic of summer people.
It could be run by volunteers. Leaving the restaurant open for banquets and special occasions.

Maybe the men can put on a meal once a month for the ladies and visa a versa.

HEB can supply us with fresh breads everyday, sandwich meats can still be bought from Cisco. And local produce can be purchased.

I'm thinking like a NEW YORK DELI or maybe we can look into a Subway franchise. Hamburgers hot dogs. Ice cream shop. Barrel pickles homemade pies and cakes chips a popcorn machine. Snow cones ice cream, bagels.
What can it hurt?
I would nt mind volunteering at all! We have lots of bakers out there and lots of talent. Lets have some fun and get a new start!
We can make it happen.
MMMMM Rice Krispy treats covered with chocolate and rolled in macadamia nuts! Can you see it?

I am still amazed at the people who want our Village to have a restaurant. Don't you people realize that restaurants in Port Isabel and South Padre Island struggle to stay open. We have had at least 5 that I know of on SPI that have closed since Dolly. How in the world do you expect a small restaurant, in a closed environment to "make it" at all? The Village Grill should be closed as it's current set up. There are other formats which could be used which would not lose so much $$$ AND might even make $$$.

She didnt say close it! You are another narrow mined old person who thinks the world is about you!"

I was not replying to Trudy I was replying to this statement: "I am still amazed at the people who want our Village to have a restaurant."

Sounds like someone doesn't want the amenity.

Now in reply to you and Trudy. We like the amenity in its current format. Could there be some things done to make it a cheaper amenity? Yes, I'm sure there could be. BUT, leave the "format" alone. IT's decent food at fair prices, and we like it as it is.

Go fishing or something and RELAX.

Re: "the gm threw his son in law to the wolves, and denounced his daughter.
How damn sad! We couldn't believe our ears. Where is this mans soul."

Re: "Even after 18 years of no contact WHO FORGETS their daughter??????????"

Larry said that even after 18 years he would take her back in a heartbeat. He has and he will again. That is what has caused him this grief, but it's worth it to have your daughter back. Don't go saying, "where is HIS soul." Where is YOUR soul? Why must you continue to treat a man so poorly? Oh, I guess you have never lied. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

I have never heard such terrible things from among people who claim to be friendly neighbors. And to those who left (not only left, but left RUDELY, not even allowing the rest of the crowd to hear what the man was saying). I don't care if you left in disagreement or if you had to go to euchre, or what. You are RUDE. What's more important--your euchre game or the future of your home?

Armando is a part of our family.
I miss his smile and personality.

You have taken a toll also GM! You have put your wife , son-in law , daughter, friends, our home in disarray. That's not what a good leader does!
Good-bye GM You should have done this a lonnnnnnnggggggg time ago!

I find it amusing that there are so many blog contributers who are business-minded people and think they could make our non-profit organization a better "business", but none of them ever comment on the poor business tactics of the local establishment that prints our newsletter. I can't think of a single instance where displaying enmity towards a customer could result in more business.

Well you know how fast they grow. Their changing everyday! I wonder if Sandi reads this BLOG. Next time I see her in HEB I'll ask!

Goodbye Les! Please take your father in law with you!

Anonymous said...

Well, we knew about Larry's management skills and now we know now about Larry's skills as a parent.
Shame on him for trying to get sympathy from residents while exposing his daughter's personal life.
Fact: he IS CURRENTLY Les's father-in-law and he failed to reveal that fact to us
Fact: he lied to us
Fact: he tried (through the newsletter) to use his position as GM to sway voters
Fact: no need to 'feel' Larry or Catherine's pain. The pain we should feel is for Les, Sandi, and their daughters because of Larry denying that they are his family until presented with documentation

On to another subject. Is there a health reg. concerning someone with a colostomy bag using our pools? I heard public pools could not allow this. Anyway this could be part of our pool problems?

Anonymous said...

If the colostomy bag is attached there should not be a problem. No more than someone without. The problem is lots of use and poor maintenance. In high usage times it should be checked often. Please don't try to exclude this person who has had this misfortune .

RE: health reg. concerning someone with a colostomy bag

The person with the bag should be concern about infection using our pools or that it might melt the bag.

Always clean-up just before everyone pours in for the Annual Meeting...or maybe someone is expecting an appearance by bosses from ARAMARK. People, you must not forget what this place "normally" looks like! No watering, no mowing, no cleaning. Remember and vote for Board candidates who will hold our current management accountable!!!

RE: Dont worry about the palce being cleaned ..we have pictures of the place the way it looked before! And availabe for veiwing!

For who to view?? It is evident that the Aramark bosses don't care about anything but collecting their management fee. How else could you explain them looking the other way on the Nepotism fiasco? It is clearly prohibited in THEIR BUSINESS CONDUCT POLICY, THEIR POLICY and yet they found nothing wrong?? Are they deaf, dumb and stupid??? No, I'm sure it's just greed. Let's all take a stand and demand accountability on their part. They state that ARAMARK takes their Business Code of Conduct very seriously and that COMPLIANCE BY ALL EMPLOYEES IS REQUIRED and then they want to look the other way??? Call (215)238-3139 and ask the Vice- President, of Audit and Controls, why our GM and his son-in-law are not required to comply.

Before you read this insert from Ron's travel log 1993..just to let you know this is what brought us here to LIV..What happened? Did I change? Where are those kind suportive, warm people. They are missing from the office, dances, some neighbors. We have another type of people learking. We have more of the cold unfriendly I'm for me people now. I wonder what Ron would think if he came back today?

CAMPGROUND UPDATE
by Ron 1993

Outdoor Resorts, Port Isabel, Texas. I will report on some of the basics of this beautiful resort---for more see page 5. The park is on the intercostal in view of the bridge that goes out to the south end of South Padre Island. That is where most of the stores, restaurants and accommodations are. The sites are wide with outstanding hook-ups and pads. We only used our jacks to stabilize the motor home as our site is perfectly level. Our monthly cost including electricity iwasn't
mechanically inclined.

Atrium Room, Outdoor Resorts, Port Isabel, Texas. This place puts out great food at super low prices. Their Mexican Buffet on Tuesday is one you won't want to miss---only $4.99 for all you can eat and it includes everything.

Reflections of a New Full-timer
by Carol Stewart

I'm in the laundry room---the only time I have to write---sometimes I even put more money in the machine of almost dry items so I can write just one more note.

I didn't even want to do any more sightseeing for a while. Once or twice a year, we have to set still and catch our breath. And that is exactly what we are doing here at
Outdoor Resorts in Port Isabel, Texas.

Ron's reading the morning paper.
This is a little bit of heaven. First of all it is warm and sunny. I never minded the snow and cold up north, but grey days sure had an effect on me after a while. When the sun shines, all is right with the world. Add to that, bright blue skys, the ocean waves pounding the shore, seagulls squawking,
sailboats drifting peacefully, palm trees, tall white hotels creating a sparkling skyline, flowering bushes, quiet beaches dotted with fishermen, and most importantly wonderful friends who are in the mood to play. It is a recipe for fun and relaxation.

Outdoor Resorts of Port Isabel is not directly on the ocean. It is on Long Island which is only a few short blocks from the causeway linking the mainland to South Padre Island. Since South Padre Island is only one half mile wide at its widest point, the ocean is very near. And there is no congestion. It is only a few minutes drive (with only one stop light) between us and the ocean.
Eight hundred plus campsites are intricately laid out on 10 canals and along the intercostal. Most of the sites are within a stones throw of the water; others border the 18 hole executive golf course. Besides golf, there's a beautiful tennis court, mineature golf, shuffleboard courts, outdoor swimming pool and spa. Indoors there is another swimming pool, spa, saunas, excercise room, 6 table billiard room, game room, laundry, card room and ballroom. The club house is huge---20,000 square feet.
As soon as we got here, we were presented with the schedule of events and an apology that things weren't in full swing yet. Bridge was offered three times a week, Euchre twice a week, square dancing, potluck, dances, an outing to the dog races, crafts, golf skins and scrambles and so on. And as soon as you participate in any event, you meet people who invite you to do other things. For example, we met Judy and Stan at the Welcome Back Winter Texan Dinner Dance and they invited us to go with them to the Wednesday night crab races at the Radisson Hotel on the island. What fun!

Besides all the activities here, we are only 30 minutes from Metamoros (in Mexico) and Brownsville in Texas. More good shopping and the dog races are only 30 minutes northwest of here in Harlingen.

Fishing is the main sport here and fishing gear can be seen at most sites. Of course most even have their own boats docked right out their back door. But those that don't, have tubes mounted on the front of their trucks to hold the big fishing poles used to surf fish.

So what do we do all day? We get up at 6:45. I make coffee and when it is done, we drink a cup in bed while watching the first half hour of Good Morning America. Then we don our walking clothes (shorts and tee shirt) and walk a majority of the complex (4 miles = 1 hour). At 8:30 we are back home and we sit out side cooling off by drinking a big glass of ice water. Then it's time for a second cup of coffee. Ron walks the 50 feet to the bank of paper boxes to get the morning paper. Around 9:30 we eat breakfast, and finish reading the paper. Between showers, more of the paper, correspondence or whatever, the morning disapears and before we know it, it is noon and time for lunch.

After lunch we may go for a ride, go to the beach, get groceries, play golf, tennis or any number of things and before you know it it's dinner time. Don't forget the normal chores that must be done like laundry, car and motorhome washing, house cleaning, and so on. We didn't even get to all the things on our "to do" list like washing the screens, cleaning and oiling the bikes, and so on. At 7 p.m. the games begin (bridge, euchre or whatever). We're home by 10 p.m. and after the local news, it's bed time.

These people really know how to throw a party. The Welcome Back party included dinner and a live band for dancing. The price was only $7 per person and included hors d'oeuvres. As we entered the ballroom, we were showered with confetti and an interviewer, made sure he announced who we were and where we were from. The band was excellent and every one danced the night away.

All the meals are served here in the most effeicent manner. Long tables are set to serve 18, and each long table has it's own buffet serving table. Thanksgiving dinner was exceptional. Not only was the meal supuburb, It was like one BIG family. Pot lucks are handled very orderly too. The Artium provides the entre' while couples sign up for salad, vegetables or dessert. Again they are served on separate buffet tables.

Don Slattery is a golf nut from Chicago and a new full-timer who came here two weeks ago. When he retired, all of his friends wondered what he was going to do with his time. He did too, but doesn't any more. After two weeks here, he hasn't even had time to get out on the golf course. He said you wake up on Monday and suddenly it is Friday.

And the longer you are here, the more there is to keep you busy. We would really like to stay longer. Most who come here stay for at least three months. It is a Winter Haven for Winter Texans. We had no idea that this was such a neat place.

REASON, Pat Burke, ssk her. The Instigator mediator. This division of owners all started and really snowballed after she became a director.

It seems to me PB spends all of her time trying to discredit the other board members. What she tried to pull on MND at the coffee last week was pathetic! My guess is she is also using LM to say nasty things about the other BOD members because he is not a candidate. This coming board meeting ought to be something. PB was really mad at MND at the coffee & this will be her last shot at MND & the others. The only question is will she do it herself or use LM again?

Remember that lady who stood up in a meeting and said " This is the most unfriendliness park she has ever seen. People are not friendly at all!
Remember the people who talked to the press about how rude the office people where to her and her family on the forth of July weekend. Remember when Don P asked the owners, visiting family and children to leave one Sat night dance. They walked out and never went back.

When the summer people wanted to have a entertainment committee . The winter entertainment committee said "They are not using anything in OUR CLOSET! "
The summer people have to where wrist bands the winter people don't! WHY explain, I want to read it?

If PB gets on the BOD and her group has the majority then hang on to your wallets. LIV will be under a PB dictatorship. We saw it in 2007 and until March of 08. This woman only wants power and to have things her way.

If the FCG gets a marjority (Fool Cool Gang aka SGG etc) then LIV will go even futher down hill than it is now.

Think about that when you vote. Also, think about your property values....

No way is she sitting on the board again! For crying out loud she's lucky if she gets 50 votes.
We are not stupid. She is truly infatuated in herself.

Re: "REASON, Pat Burke, ssk her. The Instigator mediator. This division of owners all started and really snowballed after she became a director."--You're right, it WAS "after" she became a director. In fact, it STARTED when the "fab five" entered into office. GAG ME!

COME ON, MARCH!

AND YES, I'M SHOUTING!!!

Remember even if PB does not get on the BOD she will still be controlling things from the side lines. This will be especially true
if the FCG (Fool Cool Gang) get a majority.

Vote wisely LIV.

RE: You people run RAMPANT:

Hey Gag, glad to have you back. The problems just increased after all six directors started to make our GM accountable with PB fighting that accountability, all the way. Try again. People know "Gage Me" so come up with another spin.

speaking of MTC nite...I heard that PB will be giving us a passionate plea to be "family" again. That's funny that she was pleading for "family" at the same time LD was saying he "used" to have a daughter. Anyway, I remember what it was like with her kind of family.....she was the matriarch & what she said goes! No discussion! And don't forget, LD was her favorite son (actually still is)& could do as he pleased with our money...no questions asked! No sealed bids. No water on our lawns. No mowing. No clean pools. Yep...the old rubber stamp. Do we really want to go there again???

It will be interesting what the others have to say.
Is the gm gone yet?

The Fab Five didn't sue the other directors and did not cause the need to have to cover legal expenses and election expenses....

Anonymous said...

Wrong again. The fab five are the ones requesting that we pay their legal expenses.

Their mouths overloaded their rear ends.

Anonymous said...

We wanted the gm gone. That's why the FAB 5 won, we wanted to have the gm accountable for our money. The old board didn't do anything. Don P, Don H, Virginia M, Mary S, Leroy M, Pat B, all that where on the board ..just sat back and let GM do as he pleased.
Don't talk to me please about MICRO MANAGEING! I don't want to hear IT! Don't talk to me about... we cant save money for a rainy day..because we are a non profit organization and we are not allowed to a have saved money! It was plan laziness on the boards part to let the gm do what he wanted. It is better to ask for forgiveness then to ask for permission. That was their motto!

I am sorry for the new board members. They acted hastily. But you know.. it probably would have happened anyway!
I'm hoping Aramark will be gone and the gm gone also.

These past members can win again...Their political views, dominating approaches, vulgar words, and crappy altitudes are unacceptable . Our leaders put us all in a very bad mood!

RE: Wrong again. The fab five are the ones requesting that we pay their legal expenses.

Just another normal half truth from our SGG. Our Village is responsible to pay the deductibles to our insurance carrier who is to pay for the legal fees. Thanks to our GM accountability problems, PB, MS,supporting these problems, LM and RP suing six of our directors to support these problems, we'll be lucky to buy insurance. Would you want to insure crazy people who sue their own over our GM they wish not to be held accountible for his actions?

Anonymous said...

RE:
Wrong again. The fab five are the ones requesting that we pay their legal expenses...

Why not pay, LIV has insurance for that sort of thing.
To some, its not fair that LIV insurance pays. Only because its not, in our minds, APPROPRIATE for our friends to be suing each other....Well we are not FRIENDS anymore.
It happened! Get over it!
Did we not think it was possible?
The people who write these policies do..Oh its possible alright ,probable, doable, anything that can happen will happen.... and did! Get over it!

On the other hand ,,not so for rp and lm. They pay out of their pockets.
Do not look to LIV for money. You both would have done better with your money, people who fronted money for your cause to take a nice vacation somewhere! It would have been a better place!

Anonymous said...

I don't get it. We have these wonderful people who volunteer their time and energy to do this job and then come RP and LM slapping them with a lawsuit and you expect them to pay out of their pocket??? RP and LM should pick up the tab plus all the expense they have brought about for each one of us in the villge. You could also include PB in that as she was behind the scenes adding her input but not her name.
If you don't wake up you will be bowing to PB for a long time and the vilage will continue as it is now. She is a big thorn in our sides and she still is not an owner.

Anonymous said...

All the comments about how LM and RP mistreated the poor, perfect little newly elected board members seem to LEAVE OUT the fact that those newly elected board members HAD to be sued to refrain them from tearing this place apart any further.

And then you want to talk about not raising our association fees? Let's see, we have several lawsuits to foot the bill on since the "fab five" took office, a more expensive "licensed" security company that doesn't even look to see who you are when you're coming back in to the park, a contract with two separate cable companies at one time and who KNOWS what ELSE to pay for!

Get a GRIP! Those of us that have the ability to think on our own can't WAIT for PB to be our leader again!
Heh, Heh, Heh!

Anonymous said...

Hello fellow bloggers. Allow me to direct your attention to a statement copied directly from the minutes of a recent board of directors meeting:
"Dir. Hansen made a
motion that the 6 board
members being sued be
reimbursed up to $10,500
deductible and expenses for
travel, food, etc."

1) This lawsuit was not even finalized yet.

2) This is not just legal expenses but also for travel, food, and here's the big one--"etc.?" We could add all the "etc." up and get to $10,500 fairly quickly!

3) This is not something that is DIRECTLY PAID BY OUR INSURANCE COMPANY.

4) This is over HALF of the expense that some of you are claiming that RP and LM have cost us. I don't think so, Tim!

All one has to do is read the meeting minutes for the last year and they can see for themselves that the "fab-five" are rude, crude and socially unacceptable and they HAVE NOT acted as they indicated that they WOULD during their campaigns.

Anonymous said...

Thats your thinking.. Thats not the law. They where all wonderful board members at one time.

Heck they are still wonderful people to someone.

Its not pretty what we are enduring, its ugly..PB was in thefor front also. She is an instigators, and a tool for destruction.
Something inside me tells me she over exceeded herself in the destructive path she took to get us all here.
I lack respect for her, she let us all down. She would never apologize for it either. I guess because Justice is Blind.

RE:All the comments about how LM and RP

Well Miss little Heh, Heh, Heh, it appears that you and your group once again fail to address the subject matter of what this problem is truly all about. It was confirmed at todays board meeting. It is all about the Manager being made accountable for being untruthful. That's what tearing this place apart and you are siding with a documented liar. You like apples. How about them apples?

Anonymous said...

Let's talk about micro-managing...
How about:
PB leaning in to whisper to LD about what to say and what to bring up
PB whispering to MS about what to say
PB undermining anything another director other that MS or LM try to do
PB saying that "we decided..." in the budget meeting yesterday and when asked "Who's we?"
she answers "Larry and me"
Hmmmmm...
Sounds like micro-managing to me

Anonymous said...

The really sad part is that some LIV people believe Larry when he tells his stories.
It's a proven fact that he lied to us. Why didn't he just say that Les was once married to his daughter? Then when Les arrived with Sandi, why not just inform us that they are back together?
Be accountable Larry for your actions and do your job.
That's all we ask.

Anonymous said...

You got that right. Our GM is like a 7 layer dip. (no pun intended). Every time he opens his mouth he spreads another layer of lies. Today at the BOD meeting he lied about the lies he told last Tuesday. That's OK, it's all on tape & sooner or later his lies will catch up with him. As for Mr. Schroeder saying Larry doesn't work for us....he works for Aramark....who the heck do you think Aramark works for....who pays the bills?? Duh....that would be "US"! Maybe that's the problem...some people just don't understand how that system works. Yes, we pay Aramark a management fee but on top of that we pay for all of our employees....& yes that means Larry.

Anonymous said...

Well, let's just call a spade a spade.
Larry lied and some LIV residents are OK with that and continue to support him.
What we have to ask ourselves now is..
How can LIV improve with a proven liar for a GM?
Do we vote for candidates for BOD who will work to make Larry accountable as a general manager, or do we just stand by and take what comes with no accountability?

Anonymous said...

Things were running pretty good until the malcontents sued the board and started an uproar. They seem blind to that fact. RP and LM were going to save the Park? For who? LD and PB? Get real.

There was no overlap on the cable contracts. Read the contracts. The old one ended at midnight and the new one started at 12:01 Jan 1.

Did anyone else notice that the "cackling chorus" nowseems to be on the other side of the room? They cackle and carry on when someone points out that their accusations are false, made up and uncalled for. They were especially vocal when the Berry Pools rep was talking.

How much you want to bet he still has not seen any evidence to back up their claims?

Anonymous said...

How is it that Larry is not an LIV employee?
Let's see, he is employed by Aramark and we employ Aramark, so therefore he is an LIV employee.
Larry Shroeder get your facts straight.
If we have concerns about whether Larry told the truth about his education and certifications, he should provide documentation. He is an employee hired to do a specific job. We want to make sure his credentials are fact.

This is a time in history when the American people are sick and tired of being lied to and robbed by bankers, Wall street and our Goverment leaders. We were all trusting and did'nt ask the tought questions that we should have.

I have confidence that the good people of our Village are also fed up with deception, lies and misleading information from anyone who thumbs their nose at us.

I don't care who we elect to the BOD but I can assure you that whoever is elected we will all demand that they ask the tought questions no matter who their friends are.

There's been a lot of "talk" about how the so-called "SGG" is costing the village money and that they will be raising the association fees because of it.

What I saw at the board meeting yesterday is that the "fab five" wants to hire and extra FTE just for the golf course.

They have no comprehension of how things work or how things are budgeted and have no business being on the board of directors. Thank goodness March is on the way!

Anonymous said...

The new election will be the GM only salvation.
LIV has learned enough this past year, WAS IT WORTH IT?
The man keeps his job, NO DOUBT. He will prevail. There's no way he will leave. (MAYBE)

The newly elected board will represent a new begin, (only with a new board that's all.)

There will be NO peace as long as the GM is in place.

I hope this past year has taught us not to believe in the managements policy's, under handing, lies, deceit, lack of skills.
It will be the LIV residents that will terminate the GM not the new board.
If there's a committee to rid him ..sign me up!

RE:There's been a lot of "talk" about how the so-called "SGG"

I was at that same meeting you talk about and witness these same directors wanting to save our park $17,940 each year by ridding Berry Pool company from doing what we contracted and are paying Aramark to do. I also saw the blind SGG follower's rage verbally attack a director who point blank was making our manager accountable for his misleading actions. Get your facts straight or at least tell the whole story. These half truths are what the SGG thrive on. If you also feel that Priest, Mulch, and our GM haven't cost our owner's a huge sum of money, I would like to sell you our swing bridge.

Question...
Why do we need a general manager?
Aurora and Armando could be co managers and take care of the business and facilities.
We do not need Larry. We're paying him to drive his truck around the park keeping Armando from doing his job.
Why?????

Anonymous said...

Some of our not so nice board members have forgotten why they are on the board. They are looking out for and defending our GM when their sole responsibility is to represent all the residents of this community. I have no problem with those who choose to be friends with the GM and his wife however, I have a problem when all they consider is their friend when making decisions that affect all of us.

Anonymous said...

re: Aurora and Armando could be co managers and take care of the business and facilities.

That's ridiculous - most of the problems that owners complain about year after year after year...are actually areas for which Armando is responsible (pools, grounds, roads, cleanliness of facilities etc). GMs have changed, but Armando has stayed and so do all the problems. Some will say the GM is responsible for making Armando do his job, but if Armando was a decent manager he shouldn't need to be told to do his job, he should just do it and do it right!

But, eventually the GM will be gone, Armando will stay and straighten up for a while for the new GM, then eventually slack off and all the problems will be back again!

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Anonymous said...

Re: co managers Aurora and Armando

What a great idea!
Armando would be able to do his job instead of running around with Larry in the truck, going to the post office, bank, lunch etc.
If Larry didn't insist that Armando go with him, Armando would do a good job.
Aurora can take care of all thefinancial stuff with Irma & Mary Frances
No need for a GM/Larry

You people can't even agree among YOURSELVES! They're both good people and deserve better than the treatment than they get. That will not change.

We WILL, however, elect a new board in March that will work WITH them instead of AGAINST them. We are all tired of being pulled in two different directions.

Maybe somebody should check to see if there is a "Tab" run by LD and his sidekick at the Village Grill!
Never seen at the Grill: A wallet/wallets out at the checkout.
Maybe I am near-sighted or alone in this thinking, anybody else observed this "Phenomenon"?

I've never seen Larry, Armando or Les pay for anything at the Grill.

two people need to be a the bank to sign deposits and carry all our monies..Something could go wrong along the way.
A long time ago thats what happen when only one person went and collected the money at the washing machines. We where losing money then.. OK WE ARE LOSING MONEY NOW! I know. But after Les went to collect the money it was a lot better.. We had more of it.

Well it's one thing to go to the bank and make a deposit or go to the post office, but to spend most of the day riding around in Larry's truck now that's a waste of time.
