A TIDBIT

In our October Board meeting Directors Mulch, Burke, and our general manager all made comments that board business towards our Village improvements were taking way too long and need to be done now before the Winter Texans season begins. Director Burke even wanted to forgo our Board policy of acquiring a minimum of three proper bids which were originally asked for, and after being given more than enough ample time was not obtained by our GM. Their concerns were for the completion of the sidewalks, bathhouses 1 and 2 (later changed to mostly internal work), and the repair of the outdoor pool bottom. One must ask why the rush? The outdoor pool was in need of this bottom repair since South Texas Pools first installed it wrong in 2002. Director Mulch and our GM didn’t seem to be in any rush to fix the pool bottom right when it was near the end of its warranty in 2005 and possibly save the Village this $60,000 repair bill. The two sidewalks have also been in need of repair for years with this expensive sidewalk to nowhere but the bank is a questionable necessity. The records seem to indicate that each one of these three have contributed to these project delays, but now seem to have this urgency to rush these projects through improperly. Amazing!

Well, I'm not amazed! This is the way it always is around LIV. From mid-May until mid-September the grounds around our village look awful. Trees untrimmed, grass not mowed, weeds in all the flower beds, Village improvements not getting done. But shortly after Labor Day the GM gets "high behind" because the Winter Texans are coming. Without fail a Winter Texan will stand up at the Coffee in November and say "I have never seen the village look so good". IF the Winter Texans could see (and hear) what goes on when they aren't here it would be a different story!

PB, LM, MS & the GM want to make sure the Winter Texans are pleased, so come the March election "The Evil Empire" can be elected once again.

Up until our present BODs the GM was NOT held accountable for the proper number of bids. Guess he just isn't use to following the rules - LOL!

Time for the GM to leave LIV and the "old guard" that normally sit on the BOD to "fade away".

Give me a break!LM and the GM along with 2 others are very heppy that they were able to drag things out so that when the Winter Texans came back it would make the new BOD look bad when they have never been able to get the job done in a timely manner nor have the taken care of business as they should. Our Gm should foot the $60,0000 dollar bill for his neglegence in getting it repaired while under warranty. Just like the fire hydrant. It is so easy for him to spend our hard earned money recklesslly. I for one am sick of it and it is time he goes!!!!!

I was one of those that stood up in a meeting and said the park looked great! And it did look great, especially the golf course. And many thanked Jim Peterson and company for a great job. God took care of the rest with all the rain that occurred that year.

There will be NO thanks to the BOD's this year. I am ashamed of their behavior. Larry Demalade really must consider relinquishing his post as manager of LIV.

I guess sprucing up is all about company coming. Its not to say it's fair for the summer people.

The people will have a vote in March and changes must be made. I would like to see Mr or Mrs Fish run for the board, Kurt and Jennifer, Rowdy Voss,.Joe Long...

I fear we haven't seen the worst yet. Thank you reta priest and the board for making LIV a place I dont wish to home to!

You always seem to leave out Don Halbach's part in the pool fiasco. He was a member of the Board when the bottom was repaired in err, when the bottom began breaking apart and when the warranty was approaching its' end. And he, an owner of a pool company! I've sat through many a BOD meeting and listened to Don oh so intelligently telling the masses exactly what what wrong with the initial repair and that the warranty ran out and when asked why something wasn't done, a simple shoulder shrug was his reply.

Jerry S. gets blamed for the Arroyo contract. Well folks, who do you think extended the Aramark contract without any owners input? It is the same man who stated at a meeting (which I attended) that the contract was extended for 3 years (I think that was 2004) when in reality it was extended until 2009.

It is the same man who sat idly by and watched the pool repair being done inadequately, who let the same repair warranty run out while he was functioning as either the Pres or Vice Pres of the BOD and extended the Aramark contract even though their effectiveness and commitment to our park was being questioned by many owners.

Why it was none other than Don Halbach.

The point being: our previous BOD's got the park into this mess. Who knows why they didn't take their responsibilities seriously or think about the future...

So let's be real careful when taking the next step - there's alot to think about.
