Just returned from the candidates night. Wow--it was ugly. Patty Ann S. was targeted for allegedly calling or writing Aramark in 2008. So what--so did I! She said she never did, and even met with LD to confront the issue then. I believe her. The ugly part was how LD tried to question her integrity and sanity--he was allowed to ramble. Look who's talking! I was more upset that PB asked her why she didn't ask her (the knowing one) any questions at board meetings if she was so concerned about the finances. Patty Ann answered brilliantly--"just because I didn't ask YOU, don't assume the questions weren't asked". The Moderator, Secretary Eddie Montalvo, did NOT do a good job!

RE: "Wow, it was ugly!"

I absolutely agree! That was the most unethical attempt to intimidate & humiliate a candidate that I have ever witnessed! And for our prez. to participate in this well orchestrated scheme was unbelievable! What could PB be afraid of...a bright, energetic owner to help on the board? Sandberg may not have expressed herself well on her application, but she certainly maintained her cool & expressed herself well at that meeting. After hearing her speak, I am convinced that she knows her financial stuff and would be an asset to this board!

We hung our heads last night and went home! Nothing has changed nothing.
The board should have charged for that show. We would have wanted our money back. PB take LD KD and leave please!

I dont know it was pretty ugly with RP and JL!

2 BOD members who are not in your "Pocket" is 100% more than there is on the board now.
This concept brought forward constitutes a big threat to PB, et al, and if forwarded for one more election (2011) could cost her a majority of syncophants on the BOD and her job as Prez (for life?) in the future. Add it up and vote for 2, the others are incumbant and in line with PB or an old pal trying to get back on the board!

Please move all March-dated comments from the Feb C/S Box to the March Comments/Suggestion Box. Don't want those requests to get lost in the shuffle. Thanks

RE: Candidates Night - VM's note cards contained some interesting and thought provoking info. from which she expounded (I'm paraphrasing, but pretty close to the quote): "Of course, we needed to raise the HOA dues last year, we had a lot of legal fees to pay."

Well, no kidding, Sherlock ... LIV homeowners had to pay $30,000+ in legal/accounting/court fees as a result of ONE case prompted, contrived, and carried-out by her friends (LM and RP, PB, LD and his muse, and like-minded-coolers). One of them should have checked her cheat sheets before she went to the meeting! A faux pas perhaps?

RE: Candidates Night: Kudos to you Patty Ann Sandberg! You've got my votes!! You handled yourself with courage, conviction, civility, and class!

For those of you who contrived and/or participated in that attack and used a little old man with a cane to instigate your dirty work - you've shown what kind of "C" words you embody. "cowards" would be one of them. "complicit" would be another! Any others?? Every single one of you should be tarred, feathered and run out of town as my grampa used to say!!

Please make a section entitled - Bridge. We ALL have to become much more aware of what's really happening in plain view and behind the scenes. The bridge is a pain-in-the-neck and a big cost for us, I know, but we need to be vigilant in watching what's really going on -- we could end up being "penny wise" and "pound foolish" if we allow only a certain few to dictate the fate of our village.

Anonymous said...

Please make a new section entitled Candidates Night so our thoughts about it do not get lost in other dialogue. There needs to be some serious discussion about how dangerous it is for us to allow attempts to publically "lynch" ANY of our villagers --- and, how we, en masse, should react to it in the future!!

Patty Ann:
First impressions are lasting and your hand written resume was a disgrace.

Ms White: You tryed but try harder you have failed to comunicate well those that supported you last time.

I will vote for both of you with one hand holding my nose.

Guys we've had the weaklings like Martha and Dennis please no more....

Anonymous said...

Just because Patty Anns resume was not as great as you thought it could be does not mean she will not be a great board member. Her performance on Monday night showed us all she is concerned with the good of the village for all who live here and is interested in what goes on here. I was very disappointed that Mr. Gagan didn't feel informed enough to answer his question about our pool situation. Where has he been this year and for Mr Guerra to say he had never seen the web site even though he is responsible for the expenditure is not excusable. If you don't care for this village any more than that please let someone who cares take your place.

Re:"Patty Ann's resume"

What I am saying is that "we" the loyal opposition, have put much on the line to fight the liers, cheats and thief's at LIV.
Many of us were branded and harassed by the likes of drunken, alcoholic, bitter, rotten old ladies and their drunken, alcoholic, spineless husbands, because we fought for truth and backed the honest people on the board and thats ok, but PLEASE people like Patty Ann MUST help us by dotting the I's and crossing the T's and making a good appearance written or otherwise.
I voted for her, I campained for her with my neighbors and good luck to us all.

MS White all you are interested in is the DE. Why cant you be more forcefull when it comes to Pat Burke.
You did not do a very good job the other night at MTC. Where is your voice? Thank you for the intertanment you provided last summer. We hope more will come for the children this summer.

Anonymous said...

RE MS White: If you think it is easy to stand up to PB and all the other PB yes men on the board you should run. It is very hard to make a difference when you are alone to defend yourself and your ideas against the bully and company. It is not just PB but MS as well and this is just her first year on the BOD. Give her a chance to learn the ropes .

Anonymous said...

Ms White: We want to elect you.

We want you to speak up and not be such a whimp.

The D&E is fine but if you can't speak up and voice our opinions even in the face of PB & MS you should resign if you are elected again.

You represent us so get a backbone don't be another Dennis or Martha neither of which had any resolve or follow thru.

RE: Ms White is only interested in D & E
That's not her only interest, but it is her position as co chair of the committee. That is what LIV is about having fun while here.
As to standing up to PB on MTC night, she was not in a position to do that, the moderators should have stopped that.
Obviously you don't see all that Ms White does for LIV that is not part of D & E.
I appreciate her efforts at getting LIV back on track to being the place to be/

As for the board we need strong people. Anita W. and Patty Ann are the ones to help keep it from being a "WELCOME TO PATS PUPPET SHOW!" The place to be.. I watch them all on stage I swear I see the strings and PB mouth moving!

As for AW we see you slipping away.
JG gone PB finds the weaknesses and strengths in all and strokes them. Then she plays you.
She's a very good performer.
Like LD was.

Hooray! The Red X for the missing image on the Owners page is finally gone. Must have removed it the same time they removed the Announcements on the home page; now there are no Announcements again.

Now if they can just fix the Activities page from being stretched so much wider than all the other pages. The problem is because the 4th of July Cook-off photos, it needs to be below the other photos instead of beside them; that's what stretches the page.

How much did this website cost again?

Suggestion for the new board: Stop the unlicensed Bingo games on Fridays!

"The penalty for the conduct of an unlicensed bingo game is a third degree felony punishable by imprisonment of two to 10 years and a fine not to exceed $10,000. (Texas Penal Code – Section 12.3)"

Click here and search by zip code 78578 - LIV is not licensed for Bingo!

Anonymous said...

Apparently, no one contests the fact that LIV is conducting unlicensed Bingo games...which means LIV is liable for any civil and criminal penalties...

you know, third degree felony and all that...

Typical SOP for the baord to ignore, but I guess they'll learn soon enough!

Hey, what about the unlicensed lift station operators? Can't believe LIV hasn't yet been shut down by the TCEQ! Lotsa liability in waiting there!

Oh well, maybe after my email to them...

Anonymous said...

B.S. get a life preferably in WI. You have worn out your effectivness. Nobody cares anymore.

Anonymous said...

Unlicensed Bingo? Are you kidding me? Give it a rest. Don't you have something better to do with your life than complain about trivial stuff? Are you going to report LIV? If you're that unhappy with stuff going on here, go somewhere else and stop trying to cause trouble. Life's too short. Most of us here are having a great time and enjoying everyone and everything. Try it, you might like it!

Anonymous said...

State of Texas does not think unlicensed Bingo is "trivial stuff" - they deem it a 3rd degree felony.

WE just returned from tha Luau. What a great party. Juliio did a great job with the pig and the presentations was so nice. Thank you.
Folks this is not a buffet. It makes me so angry to see people come with two plates heaped with food. One with dessert. and when we get there ( not the last in line) there were none left and there was enought there to go around. I saw first hand how some can be such pigs at the expense of others . Shame shame on you. The next time we do this I think we should keep our food at our own table. At least we will get more than the bottom of the barrel.

Anonymous said...

I think a lot of people are for the keeping food at their own table, but better yet, pay a little more and have the grill have everything. I know many, myself included are tired of making food to take. By the time you make your food, it doesn't save any money. Of course if you take a dozen deviled eggs, it would.

Anonymous said...

there were none left and there was enought there to go around.

I guess there wasnt enough to go around then. Now we are pigs?

We had plenty. I didnt see anyone complaining. What did you do rush in the house and sit at your computer? HAHHA HEHE all ruffin and puffin? Why didnt you get on stage and yell it to the world?

Anonymous said...

IT might be worth it to have servers. Like LUBYS does. Keep the main dishes meats and such together, salads in a group cracker and cheeses in another

A scoop of this and a scoop of that! And the two plates my husband gets mine. My friend gets her husbands.
And yes it is a buffet!
It is persented that way!

Stop lining up the food on long tables. Set the food on the smaller round tables apart from each other. Set the salads and crakers chips first. People will load up on them first. Long tables get to be like an assemble line after awhile your on a roll. We eat with our eyes. Give them a rest. make people move around

Supply the plates 6" to 8"
But what do I know!

Anonymous said...

The two plates I referred to were one of food heaped and one of desserts. I saw a man with 10 different pieces of dessert. That is what I am referring to. If you want unlimited buffet the we all need to bring more.
We enjoy the parties but I will bring my own next time.

Anonymous said...

It is unfortunate that a few bad apples spoil it for everyone. The problem with the complianing is that the people who don't abuse the buffet take it to heart and the ones who should take it to heart never will get it.
Thanks to the D&E committee for all your hard work and the great entertainment.

Anonymous said...

Pat Diebold says: They D & E Committee thanks you for your support. We try hard, but we just can't please everyone. If you remember, I got a "tongue lashing" when I published the Buffet Etiquette. As I said, we try. And for the most part people are very supportive and we get lots of compliments. We really do appreciate it. For those of you who think it could be done better, please join our committee. We are always looking for new people and ideas.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure what Luau you all were at but the one I was at was GREAT! We were one of the last tables called and there was plenty of food for all. The food was great, the entertainment was great, and we had a great time! Lighten up...don't try so hard to make something fun...a problem. LIV has plenty of serious problems. We certainly don't need to make the wonderful parties one of them. If you go to have a good time, you will have a good time. If you go looking for something negative....well, no doubt you'll be able to turn something into a negative!

Anonymous said...

Right! NOW WE ARE PIGS AND BAD APPLES! We thank people for this?
In my family eating is good. Food is good. We are not pigs. Nor do we eat like pigs. The food is for the taking. When we bring food to the table it gives us happiness to eat. My fathers pigs eat from a wooden box.

What is this story about the card players and not so nice emails to our Leslie. Please let it not be true.

Anonymous said...

Haven't seen any comments about Armando's shed. FYI--the park crew used the skid steer to move it from one lot to Armando's, then got stuck for 24 hours. They tore up the golf course, broke some lines, and spent a day on our dime. Same old, same old....

Anonymous said...

RE:Haven't seen any comments about Armando's shed.

Guess the Building inspector is exempt from having to submit a building application. Bet PB was looking the other way when the shed was moved from Board Members lot(JG) to building inspector's (AZ). No permits, no fees, and free use of resort equipment... PRETTY SWEET DEAL.

Anonymous said...

"Stuff" went on (not actually sure what or who was involved and wouldn't say if I did) - it's been taken care of - your Leslie will be back.

Anonymous said...

Yesterdays board meeting left me with the feeling dredging will be passed--but not until most of us have left. They almost passed the study, but still haven't gotten more than one bid. It's $15,000! The dredging companies have no work, so maybe the survey companies are eager to bid. Show us you are responsible with OUR money, get more bids!

Anonymous said...

I'm totally against spending ANY money on the survey right now. It's only good for up to 60-90 days, so any expense now would have to be paid AGAIN when they decide to dredge. Maybe the board has already decided to go ahead with dredging?

Anonymous said...

What I don't understand is how the board can justify spending between $15,000. & $50,000. of "our" money and getting only one bid. How do they know the bidder is not taking advantage of us? (We do have a reputation for accepting 1 bid!) And, how do "we" know that one (or more) of the board members are not in cahoots with the 1 bidding company. At least with 3 bids we would know if everything is on the up & up.

Anonymous said...

The "straw" vote taken at the Annual Meeting made it VERY clear that a MAJORITY of people did NOT want the dredging to take place any time soon. What is the matter with you Board members?

Anonymous said...

If they dredge in my chanel and my seawall collapses, the resort should pay for replacing it. We were all told this is a real potential problem. My seawall is OK now because I have a lot of mud in my chanel. Just leave it alone. Lots of people in my chanel have boats and they don't seem to have any problems. It seems like there is only one person really pushing this dredging and he wants us all to chip in $1000 to fix his PART TIME problem.

Anonymous said...

It sounds like the dredging study will include areas that are not part of LIV. LIV property only extends to the retaining walls at channel H, along the Intracoastal, and at the "lake" south of Sand Dollar Drive. At all these areas the water IS NOT part of LIV. Does the Board have the legal authority to spend our money for a study that includes these areas?

Anonymous said...

What did go on during the coffee and the board meeting in March? Sure would like to see minutes if there are some. Thanks in advance for posting them if they exist.

Anonymous said...

Why not form a group, go door to door water lots only.
Put together a questioner, an assortment of question pertaining to their canal.. Problem or no problem.
Then turn them into the so called board. No matter what the results!
