OUR OTHER CEMENT POND

Today is July 21, 2009. There was no chlorine detected in the outdoor pool's test reading and the water is currently a cloudy pond scum green.
I was told the Berry Pool boys were out yesterday to correct this. That’s fine and dandy, but is not our Village paying Berry Pools thousands of dollars to monitor this pool’s water chemistry every two hours so things of this nature are not suppose to happen?

It’s understandable that equipment may break down now and then, but it was sold to us that this system is supposed to sense the effects of these failures and relay those problems immediately to Berry Pools. The water chemistry in a 1000 gallon hot tub can possibly change in a day, but a pool that originally held nearly 100,000 gallons of balanced H2O takes a considerable amount of time to change. We’re talking maybe a week of chlorine not being added, with sun, heat, and high traffic to change this from clear to a cloudy green. Our Village is paying through the nose for this system that doesn’t seem to be effective.

One should always give the benefit of a doubt, but no one should just sit back and ignore this silly spending of thousands of LIV dollars for something that takes just one qualified person usually less than an hour a day to do. There have been way too many times our hot tubs and pools have had water quality issues. For the tens of thousands of dollars spent so far, we should have had at least consistent water quality instead of the constant lame excuses.

This year Berry Pools resold everyone in our Park on a system that would alert them immediately if there was something wrong with the water chemistry so that the situation can be corrected before it becomes a problem. This whole deal seems to be a croc and should be rendered totally unacceptable. In my opinion a monkey could do a better job.

More important than the tremendous cost and never ending inconvenience, is the potential liability this erratic service poses to our Village. This Park does need another lawsuit from this “accident waiting to happen” scenario. The Board may want to take a hard look at this along with some action because there was no excuse for this last outdoor pool problem.

Hey, Hey! Wakey, Wakey BOD/Prez: Lots of summer left and that pool need HELP! Get on it, PLEASE! If not, some Winter Texan may place a Golf Club in a tender spot to get someone's attention!

Hey, does Armando got it under control? You know, the GM used to catch all hell when this happened, but who's in charge now? Armando! I guess the problem wasn't the GM after all, was it? Hmmm...

I guess LIV is waiting for the new GM to arrive next month so they can blame HIM instead!

RE:Hey, does Armando got it under control?

As usual, the LD fan club tries to pick their spots. Not this time. You might have conveniently forgotten the blame always ended up on Les’s plate for LIV pool problems, because he is in charge of that department. For the last three years though it’s been quite clear that none of our three managers knows how to care for our pool facility, even LD with having a certification card. The Board knew this, thus enters Berry Pools. I read this article, and I didn’t read any blame towards management. It puts the onus on Berry Pools and the money that’s being wasted. Oh I almost forgot that LD was blamed at times when he was caught giving misinformation about pool problems and code compliances at our Board Meetings. The blame game you’re playing is old and this Village just needs to correct the pool issue and move on.

Yes, the pool issue needs to be fixed and let's move on!

I just couldn't help but notice that the blame was being laid THIS time at Berry Pools, instead of on management as was the standard procedure before. Perhaps because "management" is now Armando instead of LD?

All of a sudden, it's Berry Pools fault instead of management fault - very strange!

RE: Hey does Armando...

Playing the Blame Game.

Berry Pools is responsible for the operation of their injectors, computers and monitors.
Supposedly they are to provide readouts with the information concerning the chemicals being injected into the system.
Supposedly someone is to read that information and respond accordingly.
Unfortunately that's not happening.
That's where the blame lies.
This is what our bucks are going for.

It seems to me that our board thinks it is more important to defend & pay Berry Pools then to care about the welfare of our owners & renters. Why don't they concern themselves with finding someone qualified to take care of our pools? This is bordering on ridiculous!

Amazing that this still happens after paying all this money to Berry Pools. Cancel the contract!

This is on Pat Burke's head and her friends on the Board who re-signed the contract for Berry Pools, who had already proven they couldn't handle our pools. If Berry Pools can't do the job, there are plenty of LOCAL pool people who would be happy to be paid what we are paying Berry. And they would be on site, daily, to get the job done. This stinks to high heaven. LIVers WAKE UP! Where is that phone number to the Texas Health Department.....???

Friday 0630 Outdoor pool clearing in the shallow end, deep end improving, BUT the GREEN stuff on the bottom of the Deep end and in the Skimmer openings just grows back by reinoculation as soon as the Chlorine level drops. It may need to be closed and treated with Algacide like is used in some pools, fountains, etc. WE NEED smomeone with training to take charge and dump Barry! All the automation in Texas is no good if it is not used/followed properly!
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do we rely on automation to control our pool chemical levels when we could have a LIVE PERSON checking the pools daily? We are WAY overpaying Berry Pools for services we are not getting. CANCEL THE CONTRACT! There are local businesses who would be more than happy to get the money we are paying Berry Pools...and they would be on site DAILY.

re: why do we rely...

Yes! Could contract or hire a ON-STAFF person for the price paid to Berry!

BOARD, you are required to be fiscally responsible with LIV funds - Cancel this stupid, ineffective and over-priced contract!

Did anyone see the article in Sunday's Parade under "Stay Healthy"?
The title is "How Safe Is Water In Swimming Pools?" It talks about the risks involved in contaminated pools & call them RWI's or Recreational Water Illness. Most common is Diarrhea from getting contaminated water in your mouth. This parasite is often hard to get rid of. Also there can be irritation to the respiratory system, eyes and throat. The article ends by saying:
"To protect yourself against these and other illnesses in the pool, avoid getting water in your mouth or swallowing it. Look for signs of cleanliness like clear water, smooth pool sides without sticky or slippery tiles, and no strong odors."

It seems we know more more about pool cleanliness then does Berry Pools. Paying them to watch our pools is like paying a policeman to watch crime on TV.
